April – 12 Tags of 2013

Hi Again,

Well here is my attempt at the Tim Holtz Tags of 2013 for April.

Tim’s tutorial can be seen on his blog, where he covers ‘step by step’, a wonderful patina effect using Ranger Distress Paints, including the lovely new metallic range.  http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-april/

Whilst not sure I have created a ‘patina’ effect (perhaps more mottled?), I love the way the background turned out, even though I don’t have the new metallic Distress Paints here in Oz as yet.   I did use a combination of distress inks, alchohol inks and silk acrylic paints, and the colours and sheen look amazing in real life.  Even the ribbons which look like a different colour in the photo combo, blend in well with the tag in person.

Hope you enjoy my take on this tag, really enjoyed getting messy and creating it.  The bonus was it was surprisingly quick to do for something with so many techniques, most new to me.  That can only be a good thing, and inspire more efforts of this type:)

March – 12 Tags of 2013

Time for my March contribution to the “Tim Holtz  12 Tags of 2013” – http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2013-march/

Another creatively adapted tag, but I do like the colours, and the sentiment for this time of year.  Once again some new techniques, and getting better at adapting, but also starting to build my Tim Holtz stash slowly.

January – 12 Tags of 2013

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and creative New Year, and thanks for viewing my page.

I have a very long list of personal ‘commitments’ (note ~ NY resolutions), to deliver over the coming year.  One of the key creative ones is to participate in some community or shared online activities with my craft, and be a much improved & regular blogger.

I have been inspired and motivated for a very long time by Tim Holtz and his work, as well as his dedicated and passionate followers, so I have finally decided to attempt the ’12 tags of 2013′.  This is my very first shared post (ever), but I am not unhappy with the outcome from the inspiration tag, even though I don’t have all the supplies & equipment – I have creatively adapted a few items:)  Hopefully I can continue to participate every month, and expand my skills.

It’s only 12 tags right?
